Dev Certification for Android#
dev.cert is a platform that has become a go-to option for developers to sharpen and validate their skills through hands-on certification. There are 3 stages in the certification process:
Preparation
You're given 30 days to prepare the materials and get yourself ready before starting. However, you can begin the certification earlier within that 30-day window.Submission
You're given an Android project using Kotlin, with a set of tasks that must be completed within 10 hours.Interview
Answer 5 questions designed to test your understanding of the submission project, covering topics like: theme, features, functions, and other technical questions (`livedata`, `repository`, etc.) This session must be completed within 3 days after submitting your project.
Use the preparation time wisely to study the materials and get ready
All tasks and content are in English and use Kotlin only, at least at the time this post was written (January 5, 2026).

Validity Period#
A passing certification is valid for 3 years from the date of completion.
My Story#
At the end of 2025, I took the Dev Certification for Android (DCA) through the dev.cert platform, with Dicoding as the Certification Partner. This platform has become a solid alternative for developers looking to validate their technical skills, especially while Google’s AAD certification platform is being updated.
The certification materials cover the fundamentals of Android Development: from layouts, lifecycle, Jetpack Compose, to UI Testing.
If you’re interested in diving deeper into Android Development, Dicoding offers a structured Learning Path, or you can try the DCA simulation course to test your skills before taking the certification. Of course, the official materials from Google Android Developers remain the most comprehensive reference (zero-to-hero).
Thanks to dev.cert and Dicoding for the access and opportunity.
